Oatmeal Feed features
The full list of what the reader does — from the directory and starter packs to OPML, keyboard shortcuts and offline mode.
Features in detail
- 01
Starter packs
8 ready-made packs: Tech PL, AI, Business, Developer, Polish News, Minimal and Łódź. One click and you have 3–7 feeds immediately — no hunting for RSS URLs.
- 02
A directory of 857 feeds
A curated set across 13 categories. Every feed is labelled with language and country, and can be added to the reader in one click.
- 03
Custom feeds and OPML
Paste an RSS or Atom URL, or import an OPML file from another reader. Export your whole list in one click — your data is never held hostage.
- 04
Compact and comfortable views
A dense list for scanning headlines or spacious cards for calm reading. Switch with one click and the choice sticks.
- 05
A reader with typography control
Article text in a serif chosen for long reading, adjustable text size, light and dark themes. Your settings stay on your device.
- 06
Search your own library
Search everything already downloaded and saved — locally and instantly. The query never leaves your browser, so it cannot be stored or sold.
- 07
Offline mode and PWA install
Add the reader to your Home Screen and read what has already loaded, even without a connection. The app starts from cache, not from the network.
- 08
Keyboard shortcuts
j and k to move through the list, o to open, s to save, m to mark as read, / to search. Reading without a mouse is simply faster.
What we deliberately don't do
Boundaries are part of a product. We would rather name them than pretend they don't exist.
-
No cross-device sync
Feeds live locally, so your phone and laptop keep separate libraries. Moving them takes one OPML export and import. Sync is possible in the future, but we will not promise it before it ships.
-
No full-text archive
The reader stores what feeds publish, up to a set limit per feed. It is not a search engine for the whole web and not a press archive.
-
No account and no login
That is a deliberate decision, not a missing feature. With no account there is nothing to recover, no passwords to leak and no profile to sell.
-
No Android app
Web and iOS are built and maintained separately. Android may come later, but it is not planned for the coming months.
